Connecting to a Web server

Adobe GoLive provides two options for connecting to a Web server, the conventional File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and the new Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning extensions to the HTTP protocol (WebDAV). The following sections cover FTP connections.

Both FTP and WebDAV require Internet access. For information on Internet access preferences, see Setting up Internet access.

The FTP tab in the primary site window is the FTP client you use to connect to Web servers for uploads and updates. Adobe GoLive provides a second FTP client for general-purpose file transfer. The sections following on setting up FTP access and connecting to an FTP server apply to both clients.
